The Hungry Monk Hotel in Gartocharn near Balloch has now closed. Following major redevelopment  it has been transformed into something totally different - The House of Darroch. The new retail and restaurant facilities are along the lines of a smaller version of the popular House of Bruar near Pitlochry. The House of Darroch  which opened in May has a more contemporary feel and features shopping including fashion, gifts and kitchenware as well as a restaurant with coffee shop facilities.
